As announced earlier, audio description tracks for Marvel's Daredevil series on Netflix are now available. Here's how to enable it using some of the most popular devices. Audio description is listed among the list of alternative language tracks, so any Netflix app which supports alternate languages should also support this new feature.
Note: Many users are reporting the need to log out and back in to your Netflix account to find the new option. This is likely a temporary issue that will resolve itself within the next couple of days, but if you don't see the audio description option when using the instructions below, this is likely why.
For Android, after loading and playing the episode, select the Change subtitle and/or audio source language option from the main controls. If you do not find the controls on the main screen, double tap anywhere to reveal them. They will hide after several seconds. From the language screen, select the English with audio description option and your episode will begin to play with the appropriate track.
For iOS users, pause the audio track using a two finger double tap. This will reveal the controls, including the language options. Select this item, and then select the English audio description track. Be sure to select the track for audio description as opposed to any of the items referring to subtitles. Thanks to @jamiepauls for the info.
For Apple TV users, hold down the center button while playing to reveal the controls, including the ability to load the audio description track. The Apple TV option under Settings for audio description does not seem to be used for Netflix currently. Thanks to @KG0BP for the tip.
Category: NewsOn my iPad running iOS8.3, there is a Video Description heading under General Accessibility. Under that heading, I have Prefer Video Description turned On. Underneath this option, it reads When available, automatically play video descriptions. This makes it unnecessary to choose Audio Description from the language tracks for each movie or TV show. This has worked on both the Netflix and Watch ABC apps.
