Users of the Flicktype 3rd party keyboard will be happy to know that version 2.5 was recently released, introducing several new features.
Users can now read back text by holding down either two or three fingers. Previously, only a 3 finger touch worked for this gesture, but this conflicted with zoom. Now. Flicktype can be used in conjunction with both zoom and VoiceOver.
When moving the curser, words will now be spelled back as you move, enabling you to quickly edit words on the fly, should you notice a misspelling or wrong word.
The app is now self-voicing, meaning it can be used whether or not voiceOver is enabled. A new setting toggles voice feedback, though it is on by default.
Capitalization fixes for automatically added dictionary words have also been implemented.
In a previous update, the following features were also added:
Existing text replacements, created in iOS Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacements, may now be used in Flicktype. Tap tying these shortcuts will automatically expand them upon a flick right, while if you touch tap these shortcuts, swipe down with one finger to expand them. Replacement shortcuts can only contain letters, but expanded phrases can be anything, including numbers, symbols, spaces, and even emoji.
Install the app from the app store now and let us know what you think.
