J.J. is already on the road, and Joe is sitting on his still not yet packed, empty suitcase, during the recording of this show. The pair share their thoughts on some news and rumors making the rounds. J.J. also provides us with some stories, plus a few audio clips. from his time in Kentucky at the Indoor Navigation Symposium. No tip this week, however, we have plenty of "Sound Off" and the "Last Word" has your next date night planned. So, pack a blue tooth brush for this one foot out the door BBQ.

Rob Armstrong was one of many who reached out to us about episode 174.
If Joe and Rickie s GE washer and dryer have an Ethernet port designed for a technician to diagnose a problem, then the talking box described in the link below should make the machines accessible without having to use Google Home or Alexa. I do not have this talking box, but I expect to seriously evaluate it when I replace my current washer and dryer.
I also live in Charlotte NC. Which Home Depot did you find the sales guy who really understood your requirements for accessible laundry appliances?

Thanks Rob for reminding us about the module. We aren't sure if the 755c works with the module the same as the 750 model, however, it is good to know that this may be an option one day. For others, here is the link to the First Build GE Talking Laundry Module page
Here is another piece of 174 feedback sent in by Harry Brown. BBQ Bytes isn't a one off kind of show. But it won't be our so-called "regular format" moving forward either. We're just trying on various types of shoes because some days we need a sneaker and other days it might be a Penny Loafer. Okay, J.J. may have never worn a pair of those but you get the idea.
"Hi JJ and all,
I want to thank you very very much, for the new format, beginning with
174! It's so nice, just to focus on 1 topic per show, because that way,
the listener doesn't have to listen through a long show, just to get to
the topic that the listener is interested in!!!I love the new way you're doing the show, keep it up!!!
take care,
Harry"
Beth Taurasi was kind enough to share an amazing email that she received from CBS about CBS All Access, "Star Trek Discovery" and audio description.
"Hi all,
Just wanted you guys to know that CBS has been outstanding in their reply to me earlier. I wrote them concerning Star Trek s description availability, and so far, TV only, but they re working on getting the All Access and Netflix things. I hope this happens.Beth

"Dear Beth,
Thank you for contacting CBS regarding video description for our CBS All Access streaming service, and in particular the CBS All Access original, Star Trek: Discovery.
CBS is very proud of our long-standing commitment to video description. Since 2002, the CBS Television Network has continuously provided video description for our blind and visually impaired consumers, including the 10 year period from 2002 to 2012 when CBS did so on a completely voluntary basis. In 2012 the FCC reinstated regulations which mandated that CBS, and certain other broadcasters provide video described programming. CBS is proud to have been an industry leader and innovator in the voluntary provision of video description and is 100% compliant with the reinstated FCC regulations.
On July 1, 2018, the FCC further increased the required amount of video described programming from 50 hours per calendar quarter (about 4 hours per week) up to 87.5 hours per calendar quarter (about 7 hours per week). CBS voluntarily exceeds this requirement with over 100 hours of video described programming on CBS per calendar quarter.
As our historical commitment shows, please be assured that CBS continues to take video description very seriously and we are actively working to make it technically possible for our CBS All Access streaming service. It has, however, proven very difficult to do since our content distribution system is much more complex and differs greatly from that of Netflix...but we are getting there!
Sincerely,
MarkMark Turits

"Hey guys:
In the, Isn't it Ironic category. According to The Take-Out, The top
burger from Steak 'N Shake is a buttery Wisconsin Burger. Ironically,
there are no Steak 'N Shake restaurants here in Wisconsin!
Yes, we have Culver's, but, just not quite the same!
Your food segments always make me crave things which I can't get.
Thanks guys!
Keep up the great shows!"

Programming Note:
And now we are off to California for the 34th annual CSUN Conference. We will have transcriptions once again, thanks to our sponsor AFB AccessWorld, which means that interviews could start landing in your feed towards the latter portion of March. Depending on how much audio we nab, and the release of the CSUN Wrap Up Show, we won't be back in the studios until April.
