Netbooks are sure starting to look a lot like laptops. If you're one of the people who has been waiting for netbooks to get a bit more powerful, consider the upcoming Asus EEE 1201N model which includes the new Intel Atom N330 dual-core 1.6GHz processor. Netbooks today include a single-core processor. Amazon.com is taking preorders on this netbook for $499.99 with free shipping. Yes, the price is a bit more than other netbooks, but it's also the absolute latest and fastest processor available for these models. It is scheduled to ship on January 15. In addition to the processor, it includes 2GB of memory, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11N wireless, and Windows 7 Home Premium. 500GB of online storage is also included.

Now, this looks cool. I wonder how much battery life it gets as compared to the single core netbooks (practical usage, not the advertised numbers)? More speed would be nice, but I think on a machine like this I'd opt for a single core if the battery life was significantly better. That was something I loved about my Asus Eee 1000HE running Linux, it got a good nine hours on a full charge.
