We're continuing our look at the top stories of 2011. Our panel of Blind Bargains and Serotek contributors each independently submitted their votes for the top stories of the year. This year's panel included Joe Steinkamp, Jamie Pauls, Kevin Reeves, Matt McCubbin, and J.J. Meddaugh. Here are our earlier stories in case you missed them. We're counting down the top stories of the year over the coming days and will announce the number one live on Serospectives Thursday night. Number 5 belongs to one of the saddest days in the history of computing, and Kevin Reeves is here to talk about it.
On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, the world was shocked by the sudden death of Apple cofounder Steve Jobs. While we all were aware of his battle with Pancreatic Cancer, we were in the dark about it's severity. Jobs made it his life goal to create products that were innovative and groundbreaking. He also contributed greatly to the disabled community by incorporating access technology right into the products themselves without the need of 3rd party adaptations. He was a true talent that will be truly missed.
The death of Steve Jobs is number 5 on our countdown of the top stories of 2011. By the way, you'll have your chance to vote for the best of 2011 with the 5th annual Blind Bargains Access Awards, coming later this week.
