On the 10th anniversary of Global Accessibility awareness Day, a new nonprofit seeks to take accessibility awareness to the next level and further embed it within organizational culture.
According to the website, the mission of the GAAD foundation is "to disrupt the culture of technology and digital product development to include accessibility as a core requirement."
The GAAD Foundation was founded by long-time accessibility champions Joe Devon and Jennison Asuncion and seeks to further several initiatives in the coming months and years. Organizations can sign up to take the GAAD pledge, a commitment to make accessibility a part of an entity's core values.
Other ideas in development include a fund for speakers who wish to present accessibility topics at mainstream or industry events, and the GAAD Exchange, a way to connect users with disabilities with companies who seek to gain insights from customers.
